We meet every first, third and fifth (if there is one) Thursday evening from 7:15pm to 9:30pm at the BAWA Club in Bristol.

Everyone is welcome to attend our club as a guest for free! You can experience first-hand how the club works, and meet other members who will inspire you with their own personal stories of how the club has benefited them.

If you would like to join the club to benefit from the education programme, you can find details about membership below.

Club meetings follow a fixed agenda which includes three or four prepared speeches, as well as plenty of opportunities to take part in impromptu speaking or participating in the various roles needed to successfully run a meeting.

You don’t have to take part when you come along for the first time, but there will be opportunities to do so if you wish to, and we certainly encourage you to throw yourself in, as every journey starts with a single step!

Communication and leadership development

The educational program is the heart of every Toastmasters club. It provides members with a proven curriculum that develops communication and leadership skills one step at a time, with many opportunities for awards and recognition along the way. The communication and leadership tracks are not mutually exclusive; you may participate in both at the same time, if you wish.

When you become a member, you will receive the manuals for each of the two tracks – the Competent Communication and Competent Leadership manuals.

You progress along each track by working through a series of of carefully crafted projects teaching you the new skills you need, and taking part in club meetings by giving prepared speeches or taking on roles in the club.

Each project includes an evaluation guide, which gives club members an easy way to provide immediate feedback as the project is completed.

Once you become a member, you can begin the educational program right away.

Club membership fees are set by the Club Committee (currently £45 for six months) and are paid every six months in March and September.

In addition, if this is the first Toastmasters club you have joined, there is a one-off fee of £15 which covers the cost of your Competent Manuals and your life time membership with Toastmasters International.

If you join part-way through the six month period, then you will only need to pay for the remaining period. For confirmation of the expected payment amount, please consult with the Club Treasurer.
